Hong Island

Hong Island

Today we are taking Hong Island tour with speed boat, our operator today was Barracuda. We booked thru K.L. Boutique Hotel for 800baht per person, that’s not including national park fee which was 300baht per person paid directly to national park ranger.

Hong Island is world famous for its amazing beach. The BBC recently called this “The Best beach in Asia”

Hong is the Thai word for room, so literally translated, it means Room Island. There is a very good reason for this as right at its center is a lagoon completely surrounded by cliffs. The entrance to the lagoon is quite narrow making the whole experience quite spectacular.

The beach is protected on three sides by rock cliffs with just a narrow entrance to the open sea. This makes it a perfect place for beginners and non-swimmers to snorkel, you can just stand in the water and be surrounded by hundreds of fish, with a mask and snorkel, you can get a glimpse of the underwater world.

The water around the Island is crystal clear and perfect for snorkelling and swimming. The shallows are full of colourful fish. You can snorkel off the beach even if you cannot swim. Just wear the lifejacket provided by the boat and float and enjoy the view, or just stand in the waist deep water and admire the marine life.

Our activities start from 8am until 5am. Pick up from hotel and depart from Aonang front beach. Our destination was
• Daeng Island – sightseeing and snorkeling
• Lading Island or Paradise – lunch (package), relaxing and swimming
• Hong Island – relaxing, swimming and snorkeling
• Hong Island’s Lagoon (fantastic lake) – surrounded by mountains
• Pakbia Island – relaxing and swimming
• Rai Island – sightseeing

Hong Island was the highlight of this trip, in here we snorkeling and swimming with fish in a clear blue water. On Lading Island we get a lunch provided by the tour.

At 3pm we back to Aonang and then transfer back to hotel at 4pm and arrive at 5pm.

Back to hotel we have a refreshment and then out again at 7pm for dine. Tonight we have a dine at Poo Dam, best seafood in city located opposite the black crab statue. We ordered Spicy Green Curry Crab, Chicken Tom Yam and Grilled Shrimp. It was really delicious, really. The sauce and the chili are different from what we have been ate in Indonesia. We had a nice and wonderful evening dine, for the price about 800baht for all we had. Then back to hotel for have a rest.
