Xuexiang Snow Town
We are leaving to Xuexiang Snow Town this morning at 6:30am with bus provided by hostel which we ordered the night before. it tooks about 5-6hour drive from Harbin.
Snow Town, also known as Xuexiang in Chinese, is situated within the Dahailin Forest Bureau in Mudangjiang City at northeast of Heilongjiang Province in China. Snow Town was originally known as the name of Shuangfeng Forest Farm and now is noted as the first hometown of snow in China.
Snow Town has a snow period as long as 7 months in a year and a snow thickness as deep as 2 meters.It has the most beautiful scenery when it is covered with layers of snow in winter. The views that roofs of the dwelling houses covered with thick snow forms different shapes is very attractive. You may find them in shapes of mushrooms, running horses, sleeping rabbits, and turtles, etc.
The entrance fee is 120yuan, and it’s already include of a transfer bus from gate entrance to the snow town.
Our hotel is at Xueyun’ge Hotel, we ordered from Ctrip. Their also lot of hotel or house converted in a guest house ranging from Spring Bed in to Kang (traditional bed divan with very thin matras)
At check in we had a problem, our reservation isn’t listed there. We are book a room type with rates from Ctrip that is not available in there, they said can’t accomodate us with that fare and insisting us to his other place which is faraway from the center area and also more cheaper than we are booked before. We already call Ctrip couple time and talk with the reception but seems like there’s no solution from them.
Realizing our position isn’t strong here and considering peak season which worried more. So we offer a solution help us cancel initial reservation with full refund and reserved a new one with full fare no promotion rate. The hotel granted our offer.
After 2 hours long of solving this issues and managed to check in, we quickly check in and drop our luggaga and continue go oustide to enjoy the place.
The place is really cold, it’s indicare minus 38C at the times. In the winter at 4pm it’s already sunset and the snow town will turn in to a lit up colourfull villages.
