FIn the morning we head to Changbaishan by shuttle van, the driver drop us out at the entrance gate and will pick us up again at 2pm noon which we set time depart to Jilin. Before we go to inside the park, we hire a leg protector first at the shop nearby. It cost 50cny per pair with 100cny deposit and returned after return the leg protector when finish.
In Chinese, “Changbai” translates as Perpetually White and “Shan” as mountain. Mount Changbaishan (Paektu Mountain) is located in Jilin Province, on the border between China and North Korea. It capped with snow all year round. The mountain covers a total area of 2000 square km, and has a height of 2,744 meters at its highest peak. Changbaishan Nature Reserve was listed by UNESCO as a nature reserve in 1979. Changbaishan is famous for its waterfalls, hot springs, canyons, lava forests, alpine garden, underground rivers, forests, clouds, snow view and other beautiful views, it is a veritable paradise on earth.
Entrance fee is 215cny per pax, it’s included a shuttle bus ride inside the park, but if you want to go to heaven lake by jeep then you should buy another 80cny ticket for the ride up to the top where you can view Heaven Lake.
From the entrance we ride a shuttle bus to the transit station where you can opt continue with another shutle bus Changbaishan Waterfall and Hotspring or you can take jeep like us to Heaven Lake which cost another 80cny. The ride to the top took us about 30minutes.
Arriving at the top there will be a building mainly for people base station which for warm the body after go outside, this place also sell some snack and souvenir. You can spot Heaven Lake 100mtr walk outside of the building. At that moment the lake is freezing in to ice, all is in white. The wind is strong and temprerature can go down to minus 45 degrees Celcius. Many people could not stand outside for a long time. After enjoying the scenery and took some photo we take a jeep again go down to transit station and have a lunch.
Finish the lunch we continue to the shuttle station again and then take another shuttle bus to Changbaishan Waterfall and Hotspring area. From there based on sign board we have to walk 650meter to reach the waterfall. We only get as far as Hotspring since the other opt to stay inside the warm shop and all my camera have already battery dead. After a while we return back to the shuttle station again and took the bus to the main entrance gate again, return the leg protector and get the deposit back.
Shennong Zhuangyan Hotspring Resort
We ride the shuttle van again for 6-7 hours to Shennong Zhuangyan Hot Spring Hotel located at outer Jilin city were we stay tonight. We choose this place instead hotel in the Jilin city because we want to see the hotspring in the place. We saw review from internet about this place and the hotspring is beautiful. The hotel is not listed in any booking site engine and also there were rare information on the internet. Luckily we get the contact number of the hotel and reserve the hotel by Wechat.
Arriving the hotel at night we proceed check-in. Since tommorow early morning we must already check out to Wusong/Rime Island, so we must go to the hotsping tonight. Just left not only one hour before closing time of the hot spring area we ask just for only touring the area and took some photo, the hotel granted us to go inside and free of charges.
