By bus to Wulingyuan from Fenghuang is direct with 4-5 hours drive 80 cny per person for the bus ticket. The bus will pass Zhangjiajie city before last destination to Wulingyuan.
Arrive in Wulingyuan bus station walk a bit to Zhangjiajie April Hostel (138 cny per night) that we had booked earlier for two night in Wulingyuan. Along the way we stop first at a restaurant around neighbourhood for have a dine, the food not good and cost us 176 cny just for the dine. Then back to hostel for sleep.
02.12.2015 – Today we are going to explore Wulingyuan scenic area, the entrance is very near from the hostel, just by walking distance. We had a dumpling breakfast first in a restaurant near the entrance, then head to the ticket counter. Since it’s winter, we got priviliged low season price for only 136 cny per person instead 245 cny. This ticket entitled you for the whole area inside Wullingyuan include shuttle bus for moving around but exclude cable car and bailong elevator which is should buy individually for 4 days.
Literally Wulingyuan covering an area of 690 square kilometers, consists of four parts- Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxiyu Natural Resource Reserve, Tianzi (son of heaven) Mountain Natural Resource Reserve and the newly added Yangjiajie Scenic Area.
After inside we get on the bus to Bailong Elevator and climb up to the karst peak, the ticket is 56 cny per person. From there walk a little until bus stop for Yuanjiajie at first stop. At Yuanjiajie you can take loop walks for about 1-2 hours depending on the pace you want for the sightseeing in the area.
Then after back out from the walking trail get on the bus again to Tianzi Mountain. Stroll around and the you got two option from here, take cable car back down or walk down by stairs to Ten Mile Gallery. Since the cable car is being renovated and upgraded for the entire year so our only option is walk for 2 hours down the stairs until Ten Mile Gallery.
Maybe around 2000+ stairs from start until end, even it’s going down still makes our leg stiff, pain and walks like a penguin/duck after that. From Ten Mile Gallery we opt with the tourist train for 24 cny per person, can’t handle walk long anymore :). The track is 5.6 km long with karst mountain view along the way. At the end of tourist train there is a bus stop that will takes us out to Wulingyuan entrance park.
Walk back, had a dine and the back to hostel.
03.12.2015 – Today we going back inside again to Huangzhisai or known as Yellow Stone Village. For getting there we take minibus from Wulingyuan bus terminal to Zhangjiajie entrance section, another entrance to Wulingyuan. The bus charge 12 cny per person one way.
From there we take cable car up to the village, 70 cny per person. Then make a round loop walk.
Today wasn’t optimal because of the hurts leg from yesterday, so we doesn’t have a loop walk. Around noon we get down again by cable car and take minibus back to Wulingyuan again. Get back to hostel to grab our bag and head back to terminal for taking a minibus to Zhangjiajie city.
Arrived in Zhangjiajie city we walk to Zhangjiajie Mini Inn not for from station to check in and book a Tianmen Fox Fairy show for tonight including transfer return. The show is performed at the base of Tianmen Mountain and ticket cost 188 cny per person. Before the pick up we had hotpot first at the restraurant near the hostel, actually that was the hostel owner friend before that point me out where the hostel is located. The food is superr and not expensive also.
Back to hostel, pick up arrive and the having the show, back again to hostel then have a rest for today.
