Lancelin Sand Dunes, Pinnacles Dessert, Lake Thetis & Cervantes

Lancelin Sand Dunes
Starting from Perth heading to Lancelin for our first stop destination which was Lancelin Sand Dune, located 128 km from Perth.
Here, you can go sand boarding down massive 45 degree angle dunes, which are the biggest in Western Australia. Hit the sand in a dirt bike or four wheel drive. From the peaks you’ll be rewarded with a panoramic outlook over Lancelin, surrounding farmland, sand hills and coastline. The sand dune system is about two kilometres long and is nestled directly inland from Lancelin Township.
Arriving there we hire sand board from the local who rent near the entrance sand dunes area. The price was 10 aud per board.
Finish there we find Thai Chili Jam restaurant for having a lunch. Mine was order Green Curry Chicken while Mel ordered Noddle Oyster Beef and Spring Rolls side dishes, total 38.3 aud.
Pinnacle Dessert
Finish up the lunch we heading to Pinnacle Dessert which is in Nambung National Parks area in Cervantes. Location is 115 km from Lancelin. The Pinnacles are limestone formations within Nambung National Park, near the town of Cervantes, Western Australia.
The raw material for the limestone of the Pinnacles came from seashells in an earlier era that was rich in marine life. These shells were broken down into lime-rich sands that were blown inland to form high mobile dunes.
The best season to see the Pinnacles is spring from August to October, as the days are mild and wildflowers start to bloom. The pinnacle formations are best viewed in the early morning or late afternoon as the play of light brings out the colours and the extended shadows of the formations delivers a contrast that brings out their features. Most animals in the park are nocturnal, but emus and kangaroos can be seen during the daytime, more commonly in the evening or early morning.
Entrance fee to Nambung National Park is 12 aud per car.
Lake Thetis, Thompson Bay and Pinnacles Holiday Park
From Pinnacle Dessert heading to Cervantes stop over at Lake Thetis and Thompson Bay
This lake is one of only a few places in the world with living marine stromatolites, or ‘Living fossils’. The microbes that build stromatolites are a species of cyanobacteria and are similar to those found in 3500, which are the earliest record of life on Earth. It is estimated the lake became isolated from the sea about 4800 years ago when sea levels dropped and coastal dunes formed around the Lake.
Finish up there then we go to Cervantes city for have a dine and find Pinnacles Holidays Park where we will sleep at. Our dine was at Island Cafe, mine was ordering dinner pack (3 chicken and chips) while Mel ordered Fish and Chips, total for 25 aud. We also fill up the car gasoline to full, buy drinks, candy and freezer magnet for souvenir.
Pinnacles Holiday Parks sit beside the beach. We got cabin accomodation with two room and kitchen. After check-in we quickly head to the beach for sunset.
