Kurobe Gorge

Today we are heading from Kyoto to Toyama and plan to take Kurobe Gorge Scenic Train. We was late and also waiting a wrong line, that’s make us 3 hour behind schedule. Taking an express train from Kyoto to Toyama and continue from Toyama to Uozu also with JR to minimize the cost since Uozu is the fartest JR train that can transfer to Toyama Chiho train bound for Unazuki Onsen where the starting point for Kurobe Gorge.. Tthe ticket price from Shin Uozu to Unazuki Onsen is 930 one way.

Kurobe Gorge is a line built firstly for carrying material for building a Kurobe Dam, now it was use for scenic train. This line has 4 main stop over, starting from Unazuki, Kuronagi, Kanetsuri and Keyakidaira. Each of the stop has a something to see.

Since we were late much behind our schedule we arrive at Unazuki already pass 3 PM. So based on recommendation we take a return to and from Keyakidaira.

Not much passenger heading on that time, i’m counting only three people, that’s already including us, so it’s mean only one other people in that train.

Running thru a 20km track line with average speed of 18-20km per hour we go into deep forest along the kurobe river. Along the way there’s a plenty spot we passed, we didn’t stop cause we are heading to Keyakidaira.

Arriving at Keyakidaira only left us about 30 minutes for exploring, not want to take a risk exploring around to far and missed the last train bound back to Unazuki from Keyakidaira we just only stroll around the terminal.

After finished up taking some photograph around we go back to terminal and get on last train back to Keyakidaira, and transfer at Unazuki Onsen for Toyama Chiho Railroad and Uozu to JR lines heading for Toyama where we stays for the night since tommorow we are going to Tateyama Alpone Route.
